was speaking to a friend this morning about adventure, and later I thought, life doesn’t politely invite you on adventures. It body-checks you into them, yells, ‘Hold on tight!’ and then sprints the other way while you try to figure out what just happened.
Adventure isn’t glamorous — it’s ugly; crying in your car because you took the wrong turn and ended up at a gas station in the middle of nowhere… but also discovering the best taco truck you’ve ever had. It’s walking into a situation unprepared and convincing yourself, ‘Yep, I’m the main character here.’
It’s about doing the stuff that makes you feel alive. It’s about losing yourself in a solo dance party and throwing out the rule book for “normal” because normal isn’t your style anyway or saying, ‘Screw it!’ and booking the last ticket to a random event because why not?
It’s awkward. It’s risky. It’s probably going to embarrass you — but that’s where the magic is.
We think adventure is some epic moment with fireworks, but honestly? It’s in the ‘what-the-heck-am-I-doing’ moments. It’s laughing when things fall apart, taking the weird detour, and yelling, ‘Plot twist!’ when life throws you a curveball.
Adventure is a hot mess. It’s not a carefully curated highlight reel — it’s tripping, fumbling, getting lost, and finding gold in the chaos.
And you know what? It’s ridiculously worth it.
So stop waiting for some perfect, shiny opportunity.
Go and say yes to the weird, the unexpected, and the unplanned. Life’s throwing adventures at you left and right — are you going to dodge them, or are you going to dive in headfirst and yell, ‘Bring it on!’?
Just because you can.
Happy Friday!
