Death’s Sideshow, Life’s Centerstage

In our society, an invisible specter looms over us from the moment we’re brought into this world–the fear of death. But if we were to look closer, perhaps it’s not just the fear of death, but the fear of loss that truly captures the essence of these fears. We fear losing the people we love, the relationships we hold dear, and even the fear of losing our own sense of self. It extends to our fear of parting with material possessions, situations, and so much more–the list is endless, depending on the reader’s perspective. This fear illustrates a self-imposed limitation, one that keeps us clinging tightly to what is, stopping us from looking at the possibilities of what could be. In our relentless grip on the past, we often overlook the potential for something far more beautiful that lies hidden just beyond our grasp.

It’s akin to attempting to revive a corpse with CPR. We futilely cling to what’s already gone. We look through rose-colored glasses, at the past, a person, or any other aspect of our lives that we’re unwilling to release, clinging onto what is dead.

With this, we cannot appreciate the rich fabric of life unfurling in our midst. The beauty of flowers, the majesty of trees, and the intricate tapestry of people and situations all race past us in a blur, unnoticed. What’s often obscured by our fear of death is our fear of truly living–embracing…
